When your body becomes evidence, escape becomes strategy.
In 2031, crossing a state line for reproductive care is no longer an option for most American women. Leaving the country without attracting government attention is getting harder every month.
Mackenzie Williams has been building a way around it. After her sister Rylee was detained over an unplanned pregnancy, Mackenzie started Threshold Foundation. Not a nonprofit with a letterhead and a gala, but a door: unmarked, reliable, there for women with no money, no passports and no options.
She never expected to need it herself.
Mackenzie has money, three passports, a private jet, and a legitimate business trip to Lisbon as cover. But when she discovers she’s pregnant, none of it changes one fact: the care she needs is illegal in the United States.
And the restrictions aren’t happening in isolation. Money, religion and political influence are converging behind an agenda that reaches far beyond reproductive freedom. Mackenzie found a way around the system. The question is how long that way out will remain open.
Exit Strategy is Book 1 of By Her Hand, a near-future political thriller set in the world of the Unborn Child Protection Act series. Perfect for readers of Julia and Counting Backwards.
Content note: abortion and reproductive coercion.
